One of the hottest events of summer is the Santa Fe Indian Market, hosted by the Southwestern Association for Indian Arts (SWAIA), scheduled for August 19 – 20, 2023, on the Santa Fe Plaza. For the third year, Hutton Broadcasting has partnered with SWAIA to produce the Official Santa Fe Indian Market Artist Directory & Booth Guide, which helps the thousands of visitors maximize their experience at the market.

More than simply a directory and map, this beautiful, glossy magazine features articles about Indigenous art and artists written by experts in their fields. This year’s guide includes articles about micaceous pottery, basketry, graphic arts, up-and-coming artists, and “the old guard,” to name a few. It includes a listing of events hosted by SWAIA, such as the exceptionally popular Indigenous Fashion Show, as well as other events going on around Santa Fe during Indian Market. Of course, it includes a directory of all the artists participating in Indian Market and a market map.

The Santa Fe Indian Market Artist Directory & Booth Guide is now available as a digital flip book at SWAIA.org and SantaFe.com. Physical copies will be available starting July 28 at locations around Santa Fe such as art galleries, hotels, and, of course, at the market itself.
Cheryl Fallstead, director of publishing for Hutton Broadcasting, said, “It was a pleasure to again partner with SWAIA and Executive Director Jamie Schulze to create the official guide to the Santa Fe Indian Market. Our editor for the project, Daniel Gibson, worked with talented, knowledgeable writers and our graphic design team again produced a beautiful magazine. I couldn’t be happier with it!”

Schulze said, “We are absolutely thrilled to be partnering again this year with Hutton Broadcasting to create the booth guide for the Santa Fe Indian Market. What they created this year is an absolutely beautiful publication, filled with quality, well-written editorial content, in-depth listings of calendar events and programming, and wonderful photography, all in an easy-to-read and accessible format for all of our attendees. And, of course, complete listings of all our booths and artists category by category.”
Art Trujillo, vice-president of sales for Hutton Broadcasting, said, “Our partnership with SWAIA is a collaboration between the Hutton Broadcasting sales, editorial, design, digital, video, and marketing teams as well as the great staff at SWAIA. The magazine is really all about how we can help SWAIA artists market their products to the public.”
Indian Market Cover Artist

This year, SWAIA decided to highlight a painting on the cover of the Santa Fe Indian Market Artist Directory and Booth Guide. Horse With No Name was painted by Muskogee Creek artist George “Ofuskie” Alexander. Learn more about Ofuskie and his art at his website.
Indian Market Video Series
Hutton Video Productions is preparing a video promoting Santa Fe Indian Market and highlighting two artists participating in the market, in partnership with both SWAIA and local art galleries. The videos will be available on SantaFe.com, Hutton Hotel Channels, and the SWAIA website.
About Santa Fe Indian Market
This year is the 101st of the Santa Fe Indian Market, bringing the popular event into its second century. With hundreds of artists presenting their creations in 10 categories, including one for youth artists, this is the place for collectors from across the world to gather. Every artist at Santa Fe Indian Market has been juried into the event and some are from families who have been part of the market for generations.
Visitors can find everything from textiles to sculptures, two-dimensional art to baskets, pottery to jewelry, and much more in the booths that are arrayed in and around the Santa Fe Plaza. Admission is free, but there are several ticketed events, with details in the guide and the SWAIA website.
